President Bola Tinubu has instructed security agencies to take decisive action in identifying and apprehending those responsible for the killings and violence in Plateau State, according to his spokesperson, Dele Alake.

The President expressed strong condemnation for the recent intercommunal killings in the Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, as well as parts of Benue State. Tinubu emphasized the urgent need to break the cycle of violence plaguing the region.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Tinubu lamented the tragic loss of innocent lives, including that of an eight-month-old baby in the Farin Lamba community of Vwang District, Jos South Local Government. He stressed the importance of fostering tolerance, forgiveness, and peaceful coexistence within communities to build a strong, peaceful, and prosperous nation.

The President called upon socio-religious leaders in the affected areas, as well as the leadership of the Arewa Consultative Forum, Jama’atu Nasril Islam, and Christian Association of Nigeria, to work collaboratively towards achieving genuine and long-lasting peace.

In reaffirming the government’s unwavering commitment to eradicating violent crimes and all forms of criminal activities across Nigeria, Tinubu directed security agencies to identify and bring to justice the masterminds behind these heinous acts.

Furthermore, he urged the governments of Plateau and Benue states, along with emergency response agencies, to provide immediate support and relief to the victims who have been displaced as a result of these conflicts.
